No coding knowledge is required. ReleaseBase is designed for any developer or team member involved in shipping software, regardless of technical background.

Which git providers does ReleaseBase support?

We currently support GitHub. Support for additional providers is on the roadmap.

Is the free tier really free? Do I need a credit card?

The free tier is completely free to use forever and requires no credit card. You only need payment details when upgrading to a paid plan.

Can I use ReleaseBase without connecting a git repository?

Yes. ReleaseBase can be used as a standalone platform for writing, managing, and distributing release notes without a connected repository. A repository connection is only required for AI-generated documents.

Where can I distribute my release notes?

ReleaseBase supports multiple distribution channels — Slack, custom webhooks, an embeddable widget for your own product, and a publicly hosted changelog page. You can also export notes to PDF, Markdown, HTML, and JSON for use elsewhere.

Does ReleaseBase store any of my code?

No. We never store your actual code. For commits, we only store the message, hash, author, and date. This data is scoped to your organization and is permanently deleted from our database when the organization is deleted.

Can I cancel my subscription at any time?

Yes. You can cancel at any time and will retain access to your plan until the end of the current billing period. You won't be charged again after cancelling.

Can I switch between plans?

Yes. You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time from your organization settings.
